Pursuant to the objects of the AUPE Constitution, in particular Rules 3.5 and 3.10, the AUPE Welfare Schemes (hereinafter referred to as ‘the Schemes') are established herein for the purpose of affording some financial protection and relief to members and dependants of members with the aim that these Schemes shall eventually: |

a) |
develop into a comprehensive and co-ordinated cover for all contingencies which, without fault on his part cause the member temporary or permanent loss of earnings;
|

|

|
|
| |
|
b) |
extend to give protection to dependants of a member in need;
|
|
|
| |
|
|
| |
|
c) |
assure such benefits to the member or his dependants that though moderate in amount, are sufficient to offset the sudden loss of earnings; and
|
|
|
| |
|
|
| |
|
d) |
develop in such a manner that these Schemes may be made applicable to all members on the principle of solidarity between rich and poor, male and female and the robust and the delicate.

Each Scheme shall have its own regulations to govern its administration. These regulations, and any changes thereto, must be approved by the Executive Council. These regulations, and any changes thereto, shall not take effect until they are registered by the Registrar of Trade Unions. |
